Russian media began to spread information about what is happening within the Cannes Film Festival Marché du Film will show a movie “Brother 3”. Festival organizers refuted statement of the Russians in social networks.

Under one of the publications of the festival, Ukrainian users began to write about the morality of allowing the aggressor country. In response, under one of the comments, representatives of the event stated that they do not approve of the Russians’ statement and were surprised by the announcement.

“We would like to clarify that we ourselves are very surprised, as the company in question is neither an exhibitor nor an accredited company of the Marché du Film. In addition, the Marché shows have not yet been confirmed and will not be announced until the end of April. Moreover, their use of our brand and logo is prohibited.”– commented the organizers.

Marché du Film reminded that until the full-scale invasion is concluded in favor of Ukraine, any participation of Russian government-linked representatives will not be allowed. We have also attached the official statement of the festival, which you can view here.

About the participation of Russians in the Cannes Festival

During April 3 and 4, the Russian media spread information that the film “Brat 3” or “The Brattt” will be presented at the Marché du Film film market of the Cannes Festival. A Russian producer was cited as the primary source Yulia Pereverzev and the film’s director Valery Perevereva. They wrote that the film will be shown at the business program of the festival.

The tape “Brother 3” is associated with the dilogy Oleksiy Balabanova “Brother” of the early 2000s, which became a cult in the Russian Federation. In fact, they have only the name in common with the original. The main role in the new film is performed by the rapper Ptaha, who openly supported the occupation of Crimea in 2014, and now – a full-scale invasion.

Although the “third part” was not successful in Russia, the director also announced the creation of “Brother 4”, which should be a horror film.
