Part of the collection of the Kherson regional museum of local history, stolen by the Russian invaders, was taken to occupied Henichesk (Kherson region). This was announced by the museum on its official Facebook account. According to the report, the occupying “Ministry of Culture of the Kherson region” posted a video in its Telegram with exhibits of an exhibition dedicated to Suvorov in one of the engineering schools. It turned out that the basis of the exposition is the works collected by Leonid Shiryaev, a well-known collector in Kherson, a member of the city club of book lovers “Kobzar”. He was interested in the history of the city and throughout his life collected unique collections, which he provided for exhibitions in cultural institutions of Kherson. There, based on these materials, a permanent exhibition was created. “Now with bitterness we see museum objects from the collection of the Kherson Regional Museum of Local History taken out of the city,” the museum said. In total, at least 20,000 exhibits were stolen from them to pay off. From the local history museum, the invaders took away objects that are in demand on the black market of archeology and among private collectors: rare archaeological finds from the ancient times, weapons and coins. As well as Sarmatian jewelry, medals and orders of the Soviet era and the Russian Empire, antique furniture of the XVIII-XIX centuries, icons and paintings.
