A touching photo of a military man with a cat in his arms on the Kramatorsk-Kyiv train went viral on social media.

The photo was taken and published by a passenger of this flight, Khrystyna Bondarenko.

Tatyana Fomin took the cat already in Kyiv. In a comment to “Ukrainian Pravda. Life”, the woman said that the soldier who brought the cat is serving in the Bakhmut region. He is called “Uncle Fedya”.

The 57-year-old man has been on the frontlines since the full-scale invasion began.

This is his first trip home after half a year of service. It will last only a few days – the military will soon return to the Bakhmut direction.

He said that the cat has a full “combat” life. In December, he was found and taken in by artillerymen who were then serving in the Kherson direction. At first, the furry one was afraid of people and hid from them.

A cat that lived with the military

The little one froze, we picked him up on the road, warmed him up, treated him a little, fed him and tamed him. So he traveled with us“, the soldier recalls.

Tatiana said that in January the cat moved with the unit near Bakhmut.

“His eyes were treated, at least some living conditions were created. But it was still dangerous for him to stay in the unit – in February they were able to transfer him to Kyiv.”– explained the new owner.

Keith traveled with the unit

She assumes that someone threw the kitten on the side of the road and it was almost run over by a car. The mustache was named Tom.

The man said that the cat was being transported in a carrier. Then the serviceman took the animal in his arms and fell asleep himself. At that moment, Khrystyna Bondarenko took a photo.

Currently, Tom lives in a wonderful family in Kyiv together with two other front-line cats, who were brought back in 2016 from the ATO zone“, – notes Tatyana.

According to her, now the mustache is undergoing treatment and gaining strength. They even created an Instagram page for the furry one. She was called “the cat that survived”.
