The story of a Ukrainian scout who was captured by the Wagnerites

Intelligence officer Ivan Dzyuba spent 13 days in Russian captivity, from where he returned with amputated legs and without a finger on his hand.
The story of the 32-year-old defender was told at the Nezlamni National Rehabilitation Center, where the man is currently staying.
Ivan comes from Khmelnytskyi. Before the full-scale war, he worked in Kyiv at an enterprise that serviced cars.

After the man was mobilized into the army, he became a scout. At first, his group served in Bakhmut, and then they were transferred to the Soledar district.

During the first combat sortie in a new place, Ivan and two brothers came under fire. The enemies cut off all possible ways for them to retreat.
During the week, the boys hid from the enemy in a forest strip. Water and food supplies quickly ran out, so the military had to feed on snow.
On the eighth day, the military dared to leave the shelter. Almost immediately they came across the Wagnerites. Russian militants shot one of the three Ukrainian scouts on the spot. Two others, in particular Ivan, were taken prisoner and taken somewhere to Luhansk region.

Ivan was brutally tortured. The little finger on the right hand was actually burned due to electric torture. The captive was also mercilessly beaten on the legs and kept in the cold.
The limbs were affected by necrosis and the tissues began to rapidly die. In a local hospital, Ivan’s legs were amputated. Another prisoner looked after him and bandaged him – Ukrainian military medic.

After 13 days, Ivan was handed over to the Ukrainian side. The scout was treated in Dnipro and Kyiv.

He came to the “Nezlamni” center for rehabilitation. The man received prostheses and is learning to walk on them.
“Thanks to daily classes with a physical therapist, Ivan is already walking without crutches. What’s more – if possible, he helps other indomitable guys who are still in a wheelchair to move around. After completing rehabilitation, Ivan wants to return to the army.” – they tell in the Center.
