The summer enclosure for a pair of bears – Bob and Chuda – has been updated at the Kyiv Zoo. The new home has an area of about 1,200 square meters, the zoo reports on Facebook. On the territory of the summer enclosure there are toys, hammocks, special feeders, so-called “claws” and a large pool with a water feature. “The uniqueness of the enclosure lies in the mixed display of two species of bears – the Tien Shan and the Ussuri white-breasted bear. There are bear dens behind the wall of the enclosure, and the order of display depends on the mood of the animals,” the zoo says. This year, Chudo, the Tien Shan bear, turned 25 years old. Her respectable age requires special care and conditions of keeping, the zoo adds. Bob the Ussuri white-breasted bear is a participant in the international program for the reproduction and preservation of species. “These are omnivorous animals. Their diet consists of vegetables, fruits, berries, meat, fish, nuts, seeds, honey, insect larvae, fresh greens, etc. One bear eats about 30 kg of such food per day,” they say about bears in the zoo. Earlier, we reported that a new enclosure for the rescued Jako parrots was set up at the Kyiv Zoo. Read also: Lily the hippopotamus was transferred to the summer enclosure in the capital zoo. PHOTO
