The wrong diagnosis caused bleeding and shock: in Kyiv, the gynecologist is suspected of negligence
In Kyiv, a gynecologist at one of the private clinics was informed of suspicion of negligence. The investigation claims that the doctor’s incorrect diagnosis caused serious consequences for her patient. In particular, the woman was bleeding and in shock, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reports. “The Obolon District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv has notified a doctor of one of the private clinics of suspicion of improper performance of professional duties by a medical worker (part 1 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the message reads. According to the results of the examination, the doctor incorrectly assessed the results of the ultrasound and made a wrong diagnosis. As a result, the patient developed complications with internal bleeding and severe shock, which led to serious consequences. “The conclusion of the complex forensic medical examination confirmed the cause-and-effect relationship between the doctor’s actions and the serious consequences for the victim,” law enforcement officers say. If the court finds the doctor guilty, she faces up to 2 years in prison. It will be recalled that the doctors of two private clinics will also be tried in Kyiv due to the death of their patient after unsuccessful operations.
