The Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports supported the draft law on registered partnerships and recommended it for adoption by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading. People’s deputies Dmytro Gurin and the author of the draft law, Inna Sovsun, informed about this. The Youth and Sports Committee became the first of the parliamentary committees to consider the draft law. If adopted, the regulatory act will allow same-sex marriages to be registered. “The Youth and Sports Committee is not the main one for the draft law, but it is an important precedent that demonstrates that the ideas about homophobia in the parliament are greatly exaggerated,” Dmytro Gurin believes. The Youth and Sports Committee became the first of the parliamentary committees to consider the bill. According to Inna Sovsun, the bill was supported by 3 people’s deputies, one voted against, and one abstained. The author of the draft law called the committee’s decision a “small victory.” We will remind you that in March 2023, People’s Deputy Inna Sovsun submitted a draft law to the parliament, which, according to her, will help same-sex couples determine mutual rights and obligations, issues of property ownership, inheritance, social protection, rights in the event of the death or disappearance of a partner or partners The Orthodox Church of Ukraine spoke out against the adoption of the draft law, noting that it threatens public morality.
