Two teenage girls who were under occupation for almost two years were returned to the controlled territory of Ukraine.

This was reported in the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.

At the time of the large-scale invasion, the children lived with their grandparents in a small village in the Luhansk region. Their mother worked in the city. The Russians occupied the village at the beginning of a full-scale war, so it was not possible to take the daughters away immediately.

The Ministry of Reintegration adds: during 2022, the girls were forced to study at school according to the Russian curriculum, as there was no other choice. Later, the occupation “authorities” began to put pressure on the grandparents. They threatened and insisted on formalizing guardianship over the granddaughters according to the Russian model.

At the same time, the children wanted more than anything to meet their mother.

For almost two years, two teenage girls could not see their mother because of the war. Today they finally met. The Ministry of Reintegration and the Public Union “Ukrainian Network for Children’s Rights” helped to evacuate the sisters from the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region.

And now they are finally together – with their mother and safe”the post says.

The Ministry of Reintegration reminds: if you witnessed the illegal transfer of children to the temporarily occupied territory or the territory of the Russian Federation, be sure to report this to a specialized specialist of the department Natalia Yemets by phone: (050) 562-03-13.

You can also apply to the hotline of the National Information Bureau: 16-48.

We will remind you that a child who had been in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhia region for almost two years was returned to the controlled territory of Ukraine.
