“They were simply left under the rockets”: a woman from Kyiv spoke about the condition of her children, who were not allowed in the shelter with the dog

In Kyiv, on December 14, a school guard did not let a brother and sister into the shelter during the alarm of relatives because they were with a dog. When the children ran to find another shelter, an anti-aircraft missile shot down a rocket above them. Because of this, they experienced great stress.

Currently, the police have opened criminal proceedings for “leaving (children) in danger” (Part 1 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as reported by Kyiv police spokesman Dmytro Hryshchenko.

“UP.Zhyttia” managed to communicate with the mother of the affected schoolchildren – Lyubov Ovchinnikova. The woman told about the condition of her children – 11-year-old Oleksandra and 12-year-old Bohdan.

“Today we were at the police station, a psychologist spoke with the children. As the investigator told me, the director will not bear responsibility for the incident, because he was not there at that time and he did not give the order to the security guard not to let the children with the dog. The only one likely to be held responsible – it’s a security guard. The police told me that they would investigate, they had already opened criminal proceedings“, says Lyubov Ovchinnikova.

The woman adds that on the day of the incident, the children did not know that they would not be allowed in the bomb shelter with an animal, because it was not the first time they had been there with their dog:

“We already went to this bomb shelter at school one night – and no one told us anything“.

Commenting on the condition of the children, the woman notes – “they are well done, they are holding up well”, although they have suffered a lot of stress. After all, when they were not allowed into the school bomb shelter, they ran to another one, which is located 3 minutes away from the school. When the explosion happened, the children had not yet managed to go down to the shelter. Out of fright, they grabbed their heads and sat down, and the girl burst into tears.

“My children are very hardened, because they have experienced a great trauma – lost their father They behave discreetly and usually bear stress within themselves. They don’t have tantrums. The only thing is, when my daughter gets nervous, she gets severe headaches. In the evening after the incident, she also had a bad headache. Also, after stress, she becomes nervous, everything annoys her, she wants to be alone and not talk to anyone. This behavior continues for two days after the stress. She has to experience it in herself“, the woman continues.

Lyubov adds that after the incident, the family no longer wants to go to the school shelter.

“Today, when there was an alarm, we went to another bomb shelter. By the way, I was the one who told the children to go to the school shelter on that fateful day, because I was at work, and I knew there would be teachers there, so the children would be under supervision. And in another bomb shelter, which we went to today – there is often no one there. At least, out of humanity, my children could be allowed to go with the dog, and just tell them to come without him next time. (As a result – ed.) they were simply not allowed in without warning – left on the street at the moment when the rockets fly“, says Mrs. Lyubov.

It should be noted that it was to this school at the beginning of the full-scale invasion that the head of the family, Yuriy Ovchinnikov, came to enroll as a volunteer. The man died last year in the Zaporizhia region as part of the “Azov” SSO.

It will be recalled that on June 1, three people died in Kyiv, including a 9-year-old child. They were not allowed to enter the shelter of the polyclinic in Desnyan district.
