Three men were arrested in the village of Manevichi in the Volyn region, who set up a scheme to extort money from relatives of missing servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is reported by the Main Department of the National Police of the region. According to law enforcement officers, the perpetrators called relatives of missing servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, introduced themselves as Russian servicemen, members of the private military company “Wagner” or other Russian formations, and offered to “return” Ukrainian servicemen from captivity for a monetary reward. The amount of material damage is more than 135 thousand hryvnias. During the searches, the law enforcement officers seized material evidence from the persons involved in the case and their relatives. Ammunition and a fuse for a grenade were also found in one of the detainees. Currently, three suspects are detained. The organizer and co-organizer of the group are in prison. The third participant, a 28-year-old resident of the village of Lokach, is under 24-hour house arrest.
