In the Lviv region, emergency service medics found the body of a murdered man during a call and almost became victims of an attack by a recidivist with an ax. The Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine reported on the extreme challenge. On the evening of March 2, the “ambulance” team, consisting of doctor Rostislav Zaits, paramedic Oleh Didych, and driver Igor Drovniak, received a call that a person had breathing problems and had lost consciousness. He said that a sick person was lying on the bed and called on the doctors to help him. Doctors immediately noticed that the body of the “patient” was covered with bruises, especially his hands – as if he had fought off someone. “There is a penetrating wound in the frontal area on the head. The body is cold – apparently, some time has passed since the death. And there is no blood. Someone has already washed the corpse,” says Rostyslav Zayets. The doctors said that the patient was dead and were about to leave. However, the inadequate man began to shout and threaten the medical team. There were knives and an ax on the table, so the medics had to act quickly. They said that they would take the victim to the hospital and save him. Then they put the body on a stretcher, and everyone got into the car together. The man chased the medics for some time and punched the car. Only after driving 300 meters did the emergency service workers realize that they were saved. They called the police, waited for the law enforcement officers and returned to the scene with them. “There was already an inspection, a description of everything that was happening, the arrival of forensic experts from Lviv. In short, the adrenaline is still the same, they returned to the substation in the middle of the night. A thriller, not a challenge,” says the doctor. According to the police, the men were neighbors and lived in the same house. Investigators established that on the day of the murder, there was a domestic conflict between the men. The 50-year-old victim was found to have a skull fracture and multiple hematomas. The suspect in the murder was detained. He is accused of premeditated murder, the man faces seven to fifteen years in prison.
