Rules for the transportation of cats and dogs According to the rules of Ukrzaliznytsia, you can travel with small pets (that is, cats, birds, dogs of small and medium breeds) in: reserved seats; compartment; 1st and 2nd class passenger cars. Four-legged and feathered animals should be transported in a cage, container or carrier that prevents damage or contamination of the car. “Transportation of small domestic animals that do not pose a threat to others (small breed dogs, cats, birds, etc.) in higher-class SV and “luxury” type carriages is allowed on the condition that all unoccupied seats are purchased,” the company adds. They are allowed to be transported with a muzzle and a leash. Another limitation is that there can be no more than two large dogs in a compartment. Traveling in regional trains In regional trains, you can travel with a large dog, but you will have to stand with it in the outer vestibules of the first or last carriages. Smaller pets in carriers are placed: in places for hand luggage; in the hands of the passenger; under the seats. The passenger ensures compliance with sanitary and hygienic requirements during the transportation of animals, in case of violation of which ensures their removal. Transportation of animals abroad Documents required for transportation of animals outside of Ukraine: veterinary passport of international standard; international veterinary certificate on the state of health of the animal, issued by the veterinarian of the State Production and Consumer Service at the state border; microchip; current vaccination against rabies, current result of a serological test to determine antibodies to the causative agent of rabies. Small animals can be transported to Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Moldova on all trains without purchasing seats. And to Hungary, Austria, Romania, even small dogs and cats must be transported in a transport container and a separate ticket must be purchased for the animal.
