The management of “Kutsky Forestry” is suspected of illegal felling of forests on the territory of the “Hutsulshchyna” National Nature Park.

It is reported State Bureau of Investigation and Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, in 2018 the head of the forest farm created a group that illegally, without permits and approvals, issued documents for logging in areas that have not belonged to the forest farm for more than 20 years, but are part of the National Park.

In addition to the director of the enterprise, the group included an acting chief forester, a forester and an engineer for forest protection and protection. They illegally cut down valuable trees of various species.

“They sold the felled wood to the population, and the money was appropriated. The illegal activities of the dealers over the course of several years caused damage to the environment of almost 250 million,” – fromdesignated in the DBR.

According to the prosecutor’s office, under the guise of sanitary felling, in 2022, more than 600 trees were illegally cut down on the territory of the nature reserve fund, which led to losses for the state in the amount of almost two million hryvnias.

In order to compensate for the damage caused, the question of seizing the property of the suspects is currently being considered.

The court has already chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for the two suspects. Another one is under house arrest. For the fourth share, they have not been chosen yet – the court is considering the relevant petition.

A pre-trial investigation is currently underway. All four members of the criminal group were charged with abuse of office and illegal felling and sale of wood on the territory of the nature reserve fund. They are charged with part 3 of article 27, part 3 of article 28, part 2 of article 364, part 3 of article 27, part 3 of article 28, part 4 of article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
