Ukrainians can treat infertility for free in 12 medical institutions: the list – News

The National Health Service of Ukraine concluded contracts with 12 hospitals where infertility will be treated free of charge within the framework of the Medical Guarantee Program.

As noted in the Ministry of Health, 1.87 billion hryvnias were allocated for this. With these funds, they plan to conduct 30,000 treatment cycles. Considering the fact that the success rate of the procedure is 30% on average, the Ministry of Health estimates that approximately 10,000 Ukrainian couples will be able to become parents.

“The birth rate in Ukraine has been falling for not the first year. The Great War worsened the situation. In order to help people who dream of experiencing the joy of parenthood, this year we launched a program for the treatment of infertility with the help of assisted reproductive technologies. The corresponding package of services is included in the Medical Guarantee Program”said Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.

Currently, infertility can be treated free of charge in 12 medical facilities in Ukraine.

The list of medical institutions will be updated, added the Ministry of Health. You can follow this list on the portal of the National Academy of Sciences.

Medical services under the “Treatment of infertility with the help of assisted reproductive technologies” package are provided under the condition of a previously established diagnosis of “Female infertility” or “Male infertility”. The age of the patient at the time of the start of the cycle should not be more than 40 years.

A medical institution for treatment can be chosen independently from the list of those that have concluded a contract with the NHSHU.

What medical services can be used for free?

• all necessary consultations and examinations;
• ovarian stimulation for women undergoing IVF;
• aspiration of ovarian follicles (a procedure in which a needle is used to extract fluid from the follicles. This is done under ultrasound guidance to visualize the follicles and the needle);
• analgesia at all stages of treatment;
• obtaining sperm from a man, its processing and preparation for fertilization;
• egg fertilization;
• control of a woman’s condition before pregnancy;
• provision of all drugs necessary for carrying out all stages of artificial insemination.
