“Unproven rehabilitation”: the Ministry of Health spoke about the effectiveness of ultrasound treatment

The device based on ultrasound has two actions – thermal and mechanical – none of which guarantees a positive result during treatment or rehabilitation. The properties of sound vibrations are weak, according to the Ministry of Health. Doctor Naomi Chinn from the Department of Sports Health and Exercise at the British University of Hull and colleagues analyzed the effectiveness of therapeutic ultrasound in the treatment of soft tissue injuries. Of the seven studies conducted, only two demonstrated minimal clinical benefit from the treatment. As noted by the Ministry of Health, the effectiveness of this method is almost no different from fake ultrasound. That is, a dummy device or device not connected to the network shows a result similar to an organism. An ineffective method is also called a type of ultrasound therapy – phonophoresis, which involves the use of ultrasound for the delivery of therapeutic drugs, supposedly improving their absorption and penetration through the skin. The results of the study of this therapy proved insufficient effectiveness of the method, especially during the treatment of symptomatic osteoarthritis of the knee joint, the ministry adds. Earlier, the Ministry of Health told whether the Darsonval device is effective. Read also: The Ministry of Health explained whether magnetic therapy is effective
