The State Film Agency stated that it had no reason to refuse to issue rental licenses to the company UFD, co-founded by Russian producer Mikhail Shlicht, and accused the journalists of the “Schemes” project of “unreliability” and “distortion of information.” Read UP.Kultura in Telegram. The relevant statement appeared on the official website of Derzhkino. Earlier, Schemy published an investigation into the fact that Derzhkino had been issuing rental licenses to a Ukrainian company co-founded by Shlicht, who is known for producing Russian propaganda films, since February 24, 2022. And in May 2023, his daughter Polina Shlicht participated in the Cannes Film Festival as a representative of the Ukrainian film company UFD. Derzhkino called this information “unreliable and distorted”, “Schemy” – an unreliable source, and “Radio Svoboda” was accused of chasing ratings like the yellow press. It was also noted there that according to the documents provided by the UFD, this company “is a subject of the cinematography of Ukraine”, therefore State Cinema “had no legal grounds for refusing to issue state certificates for the right to distribute films”. “YUFD” LLC is not a new company and was registered in 2005 as a Ukrainian distributor. Therefore, Derzhkino had no grounds for an additional inspection of this company, besides, Derzhkino, according to the Regulations, is not empowered by an investigative body, for this there are other law enforcement agencies structure,” the statement reads. Derzhkino clarified that they issued not 35, but 20 rental licenses to this company, and “Michael Schlicht is a German citizen.” In addition, the agency stated that “no State Cinema representative gave an interview to Radio Liberty journalist Maksym Savchuk. Moreover, the recording of the telephone conversation was not agreed upon.” The investigator was accused of recording without the consent of the parties and taking phrases out of the context of the conversation.
