The President issued a decree awarding Ukraine’s highest official creative honor – the Taras Shevchenko National Award.
The names of the winners in the nominations “Literature”, “Publicism, Journalism”, “Musical Art”, “Visual Art” and “Theatrical Art” were also named by the Taras Shevchenko National Award Committee of Ukraine at the award ceremony on March 9.
“Literature”
In this nomination, the award was given to a philologist, a combat medic and a scout Yaryna Chornoguzwhich also is included in the UP-100 list. Leadership during wartime and received the Women in Arts award. She was awarded for the Book of Poems “[dasein: оборона присутності]”
A poet, TV presenter and military man Dmytro Lazutkin awarded for the poetry collection “Bookmark”.
“Publicism and Journalism”
In this nomination, it was noted Yevgena Maloletka, Mstislav Chernov and Vasylisa Stepanenko for a series of journalistic materials about the siege of Mariupol.
These are reports, photo and video reports, investigations and the film “20 days in Mariupol”.
These materials were collected by a group of journalists during the Russian siege of Mariupol in the spring of 2022. They were the only representatives of the international media, thanks to which the world learned the truth about the destruction of the civilian population of the Ukrainian city by the Russians.
“Musical art”
The singer was awarded the Shevchenko Prize to Jamal (for the Qirim album) and a composer Carmella Tsepkolenko (for the cantatas “Reading the story”, “Where are you from, black walko, the bird will sing?”, duet duet No. 14, symphony No. 5.
“Theatrical Art”
In this category, the award was given to the director-producer Ivan Uryvskyi for the play “The Witch of Konotop” by the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater.
“Visual Art”
An artist was awarded a prize in this nomination Andriy Yermolenko – the author of the series of works “Ukrainian resistance // Ukrainian resistance”.
In 2024, the amount of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine is 429,000 hryvnias.
We will remind you that the Taras Shevchenko National Award Committee of Ukraine determined the laureates of the 2024 award on February 6. At the same time, it became known that this year the Shevchenko Prize will not be awarded in the “Cinema” and “Literature and Art Studies” categories.
