Rock musician, leader of the group “DDT” Yury Shevchuk has released a new album “Wolves in Tire”. It contains nine songs about the war, written after the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The last of them sounds the call to “arrange war funerals.”
The album was recorded by Shevchuk in co-authorship with composer and producer Dmitry Emelyanov. The musician emphasizes that this does not mean his break with the group “DDT”. The group, according to him, is “in good health”, but in cooperation with Emelyanov he will try other opportunities.
According to “Meduza”, in addition to Shevchuk and Emelyanov, the musicians Dan Beyla, Alyona Romanova, Manizha, Tyoma Mamai and Anton Vyshnyakov took part in the recording. A painting by the Estonian artist Jaan Tammsaar is used on the cover – a decorative painting with fairy-tale wolves pierced by bullets.
Previously, two songs from this album – “Family, return to home” and “War funerals” – were released in separate clips.
- Yury Shevchuk repeatedly condemned the war in Ukraine. He consistently takes a pacifist position and opposed any wars, including military actions in Chechnya, South Ossetia and everywhere in the world.
- In 2022, Shevchuk was fined 50,000 rubles, found guilty of discrediting the actions of the Russian army. The reason for the fine was an anti-war statement he made in May at a concert in Ufa. Concerts of his group “DDT” in Russia after the start of the war in Ukraine were often postponed or canceled “for technical reasons”.
