Five lions, who were evacuated from the frontline regions to the Center for the Rescue of Wild Animals, were sent to live abroad. This is reported in the UAnimals organization. The lioness Asya and the lion cubs Amy, Santa and Teddy, as well as the lion Akeru, were evacuated abroad. The organization explained how wild animals are transported. After the injection of anesthesia, veterinarians monitor the time so that the animal has time to fall asleep. Then, with the doctor’s permission, the evacuation begins. “The team carefully transfers the animal to the stretcher and transports it to the car, where a special cage for transporting wild animals is already ready. After making sure that the cage is firmly closed, the lion is brought out of sleep,” – say animal rights activists. The animals will first be sent to the zoo in Poznań, where they will undergo a thirty-day quarantine. After that, they will go to new homes at several wildlife rehabilitation centers in Europe. Ruslana Khojayeva, an employee of the organization “UP. Life” commented that the lioness Asya got to the rescue center for wild animals from a nursery in Donetsk region. The lioness was evacuated from under shelling and later found out that she was pregnant. At the end of October, Asya gave birth to three lion cubs, Amy, Teddy and Santa, the woman says. “Asya started feeding the little ones and taking care of them, although apparently this is her first pregnancy. The lion cubs are healthy and playful, they constantly need attention from their mother,” says Ruslana Khodzhaeva. According to her, Akeru the lion was kept on private property, but after the start of a full-scale invasion, its owners left and left the animal. “The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine found him weak, emaciated and lonely,” the woman says. According to her, all the lions underwent rehabilitation in Ukraine and are in good condition. Currently, Ruslana Khodzhaeva adds, animals are already undergoing quarantine at the Poznań Zoo. “A large, spacious enclosure awaits lions in rehabilitation centers, where they can rest, play, run and live in conditions close to natural,” Ruslana adds.
