The head of one of the departments of the Institute of Urology in Kyiv is suspected of extorting a bribe for an operation and post-operative treatment of a patient. According to the investigation, the official demanded 6,000 dollars from the woman for the treatment of her father, the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reported. “Under the procedural leadership of the Shevchenkiv District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Kyiv, the suspicion was reported to the head of the department of the State University “Institute of Urology named after Academician O.F. Vozianov” for the fact of demanding and receiving an illegal benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). At the moment of transferring the funds, the briber was detained. “When the woman addressed the suspect, he first announced the number “6 thousand.” asked to reduce this amount, because she does not have extra funds. He still did not reduce it. Actually, during the transfer of these funds, he was detained. The man’s place of work and residence were searched. 250,000 hryvnias and 3,600 US dollars were found in the office of the official, and more than 40,000 US dollars and about 200,000 hryvnias were found at his residence. Investigations are ongoing. The issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved. If the court finds the man guilty, he faces from 5 to 10 years behind bars.
