The short story “The Martians” by the Ukrainian writer and military serviceman Pavel Vyshebaba was included in the Ukrainian literature curriculum.

Schoolchildren will study it in the 7th grade, the writer himself said.

In a post on Facebook, the soldier recalled how he once read the text of this story at a creative evening in Uzhhorod.

“The first commander of my brigade, Colonel Yuriy Belyakov, came onto the stage with wet eyes and said into the microphone: “That’s how it was.” – wrote the author of “Martian”. He hopes that teenagers will also be impressed by this text.

The story of “Marsiana” is based on real events. Its author wrote at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The text refers to the stay of the author’s brigade in Donetsk region, during which the military decided to spend the night in an empty kindergarten, where there were still children in the morning.

We, with our camouflage clothes and dirty berets, with our weapons and unshaven faces, look here like aliens from another planet. Now we already feel like Martians who have arrived on cozy Earth“, – says the text of the story.

The short story “Marsiana” is part of the collection “Just don’t write to me about the war” by Pavel Vyshebaba.

Earlier, we reported that a scholarship named after the fallen soldier “Da Vinci” was launched at UCU.
