During March 2024, Russian attacks on Ukraine caused 20% more civilian casualties than in February.

57 of them are children, reported the UN human rights monitoring mission in Ukraine.

According to the report, 126 civilians, including 11 children, were killed in Ukraine in March. They also recorded 478 wounded, 46 of them children.

A total of 604 civilians were killed and injured in March, which is 20% more than in February (503 people).

“The increase in the number of victims among the civilian population in March was mainly due to the attacks of the Russian armed forces with the use of missiles and ammunition throughout the territory of Ukraine, as well as an increase in the number of aerial bombardments near the contact line.” – noted in the UN.

The number of dead and injured children doubled compared to February. According to the report, this was a consequence of the increased use of guided and unguided aerial bombs.

Mines and explosive objects killed and injured at least 28 civilians, including 7 agricultural workers.

The March attacks destroyed or damaged at least 20 power facilities across the country, temporarily disrupting access to electricity for millions of people in towns and villages.

The majority of casualties among the civilian population (93.5%), damage to educational and health care facilities (98%), as well as critical infrastructure objects (95%) occurred in the territory controlled by Ukraine.

We will remind, in 10 years of the UN recorded 104 cases of kidnapping of pro-Ukrainian people in Crimea.
