A British veteran tried to live on a deserted rock for 60 days: he was saved

A British Army veteran planned to spend 60 days on the uninhabitable Rock Rock for charity but had to be rescued.
Cam Cameron, 53, wanted to break the record for being on the famous rock in the North Atlantic and raise money for veterans’ organizations.
However, 32 days later, the man called for help when his tent was damaged by the horrific weather, the BBC and The Times reported.
Rocol is an uninhabited rock in the Atlantic Ocean that is part of the collapsed cone of an extinct volcano and one of the peaks of Helen’s Reef.
Chris “Cam” Cameron, father of two, Army veteran and former science teacher, landed on a cliff in late May.
He came with Bulgarian mountaineer Emil Bergman and radio operator Adrian “Nobby” Stiles, who helped him set up camp.

According to Cameron, he filmed a documentary on the rock, watched whales and was not bored at all. But then the soldier noticed something strange – all the birds disappeared from the rock.
Very strong storms began, the west wind was blowing at a speed of 46 km/h.
The traveler’s dwelling was damaged, his equipment washed away, and the slings and ropes wore out from constant blows. Finally, on the 32nd day, the veteran called for help, although he calls this decision difficult.
Within 10 hours of the call, the coastguard rescued the 53-year-old veteran by helicopter and airlifted him to Stornoway.

Cam Cameron told reporters that he wanted to surpass world record holder Nick Hancock, who lived on Rockola for 45 days in 2014.
“I watched Nick Hancock when he tried and I thought it was very difficult – you know, you have to be insane to do something like that. And it was with me, I was literally insane.”said the veteran.
He suggests that he can try to conquer Rokol a second time.
It will be recalled that earlier a British climber set a record for the number of ascents to Everest among foreigners.
