On July 20-21, a brown bear was spotted in Vinnytsia. Oleksandr Gavrilyuk, the head of the Tulchyn district state administration, announced this. The animal was noticed by residents of Studenyanska, Pishchanska and Kryzhopolska communities. The bear was moving through the fields in the direction of Vapnyarska hromada. “Dear citizens! Be careful when meeting the animal. Remember that the brown bear is an animal listed in the Red Book of Ukraine!” – urged the chairman of the district council. People who discover a bear are encouraged to call 102, as well as the chief game scientist of the Tulchyn forestry branch Oleksandr Nim at 0674308421. Oleksandr Havrylyuk recommends not to make independent decisions about catching an animal under any circumstances. Animals live mainly in the Carpathians, a few more in Polissia. Although the animals have been listed in the Red Book since 2003, their number is not increasing. The brown bear is threatened with extinction due to habitat loss and poaching. Read also: A bear took 400 selfies on a camera trap in Colorado and became a social media star. PHOTO
