How to get the status of a family member of a fallen soldier? The ombudsman explains

The status of a family member of a deceased defender provides a number of benefits provided by the law “On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection”. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets told about the three steps for obtaining this status. First, you need to collect all the necessary documents. In particular: death certificate of a soldier (copy) or notification of death; a document confirming the participation of a fallen soldier in hostilities; resolution of the full-time military medical commission of the relevant military formation. To do this, with all the documents, you should contact the structural unit for social protection of the population of the district administration of the city of residence. Infographic: Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets The Ombudsman notes that family members of the fallen defenders are considered to be: parents; one of the spouses who has not remarried; children who do not have (and did not have) their families; children who have their own families, but became persons with disabilities before reaching the age of majority; children whose two parents are dead or missing; dependents of a deceased soldier who are paid a pension in connection with this.
