A team of foreign and Ukrainian surgeons restored the face of a soldier who received a severe bullet wound at the front.
29-year-old Yevhen volunteered for the Armed Forces and fought in the Donetsk direction.
A year ago, he was wounded during an assault on enemy positions, the charity fund “Patients of Ukraine” told “UP. Life”.
The bullet entered under the eye and exited in the ear, crushing the front bones of the skull and tearing the muscles under the eye.

Despite his difficult condition, the man crawled almost 2 kilometers to reach his family. Only halfway he realized how bad his wound was.
He wanted to touch his nose, but his fingers “fell” through the bones of the skull.
“When I touched the nose, it was soft, and there was a hole in the skull under the eye”– recalls the military man.

At first Yevhen was treated in Vinnytsia. The soldier’s skull was actually reassembled – 5 titanium plates were placed in the face instead of the missing skull fragments.
Then the doctors performed another surgical intervention, because one of the plates did not take root.

Doctors removed the plate under the eye, which provoked inflammation, restored the physiological position of the tear duct and transplanted the skin under the eye.
Three months have passed since the operation. The wounds on Yevhen’s face have already completely healed.

A team of 15 foreign doctors has already helped 30 soldiers and civilians whose faces were disfigured by the war.
The next “Face the future Ukraine” mission will take place this spring.
Doctors say they operate free of charge on people who have suffered face or neck injuries from military operations and need reconstructive operations.
We will remind, earlier in Lviv they helped a 44-year-old soldier who lost a leg and half of his face, and then underwent 69 operations.
