They have one goal: to find a safe haven. They board the evacuation bus and talk about what they had to experience. At the wheel of the bus is the director himself, who takes his heroes away from the war. A frame from the film “From where to where” “More than a year ago, I joined as a volunteer the first evacuations from the Polish-Ukrainian border, and then from remote areas of Chernihiv Oblast and Donbass. We created an effective cross-border network of volunteers who helped during the war, one of thousands of such of public organizations that arise between Poland and Ukraine. This is evidence of how friendship is formed in the face of a common threat of evil. The idea of creating this film appeared on the road, in an evacuation bus,” says director Macek Hamela. On the bus, the importance of gender, age, skin color, physical condition, origin, identity, worldview and faith disappear. The 76th Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 16 to 27, 2023. In Cannes, such long-awaited films as “Killers of the Flower Moon” by Martin Scorsese, “Indiana Jones and the Relic of Destiny” by James Mangold and “City of Asteroids” by Wes Anderson will be shown. The festival’s jury in 2023 will be headed by Swedish director Ruben Ostlund, whose satirical comedy “Triangle of Sadness” won Cannes last year.
