In Ivano-Frankivsk region, a 53-year-old man was punished for raping a 6-year-old girl who lived next door. The perpetrator was sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The man had previously been convicted of rape, but he was released early. “The court found a 53-year-old man from Carpathian guilty of rape of a minor child (Part 4 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) for maintaining a public accusation by the juvenile prosecutors of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office,” law enforcement officers say. In a state of alcoholic intoxication, he came to the yard of his neighbors, saw that there were no parents with the child, lured her behind the farm building and raped her. The criminal threatened the girl not to tell anyone about it, otherwise he would kill her. The child told only his mother. The girl began to fear the abuser and run away, although she used to know him well and play with him. The victim’s grandfather told the court that on that day a neighbor came to his house and they drank tincture together. According to him, the neighbor was inadequate, excited. Later, the girl’s mother told her grandfather what the neighbor had done with the child, and a quarrel began between the men. Psychologists and forensic experts confirmed that the child was sexually abused by a neighbor. “Existing fear, timidity and anxiety… According to the results of the study, the presence of a traumatic experience of a sexual nature, timidity, fear of unfamiliar or unfamiliar men was found. Aggressive tendencies are present, which is a consequence of self-defense of the psyche against a traumatic situation,” the case states. The perpetrator did not admit his guilt in court, but it was fully proven by the collected evidence. The Nadvirnya District Court sentenced the man to 13 years in prison, but added 2 more, which he did not serve last time. Information about him was entered into the Unified register of persons convicted of crimes against sexual freedom and sexual integrity of minors.
