A man who committed domestic violence against his father will be punished in Kyiv

Metropolitan law enforcement officers reported suspicion to a 38-year-old man who systematically committed domestic violence against his father despite a restraining order from the court. The convicted man repeatedly threatened physical violence, humiliated and threw his fists at his father, Kyiv police reports. The 67-year-old man first contacted the police in March of this year. A citizen of Kyiv reported that his son commits domestic violence against him. A mobile team to combat domestic violence went to the scene and documented a criminal offense. “As the head of the anti-domestic violence sector of the Desnyan police department, Ivan Svyridenko, said, the suspect was already in the police’s field of view for committing property crimes and causing bodily harm,” the law enforcement agency said. The Desnian District Court found the man guilty, issued an urgent restraining order and sent him to undergo a program for offenders for a period of three months. Despite preventive work, his behavior in the family did not change and he continued to abuse his father. “Subsequently, based on this fact, the investigators started criminal proceedings under Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – domestic violence. During the pre-trial investigation, the law enforcement officers collected a sufficient amount of evidence and, under the procedural guidance of the Desnyan District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Kyiv, informed the 38-year-old defendant of the suspicion,” – say the police.
