In Lviv, a man who sexually abused his daughter for several years was taken into custody. The Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine “YurFem” informed about the precautionary measure. The girl turned to the police only after coming of age in 2021. She was persuaded to do this by the psychologists who provided her with help. At the sessions, she said that her father abused her, raped her, filmed it on video and photos, and molested her. According to lawyer Oleg Ivanov, the case “stood still” for one and a half years. We conducted an investigation, interrogated her, took a polygraph. And that’s when everything “stopped,” says the girl’s lawyer. Later, the lawyer managed to convince the prosecutor to issue a warrant to search the apartment where the victim’s father lived. During the search of the apartment, law enforcement officers found hard drives with evidence of sexual violence against the girl. According to the lawyer, there was a lot of data, so it took a lot of time to process them. “After some time, photos and videos were found, and then the normal investigation began. Once again, the victim was questioned about the episodes that were found. She recognized herself, her father, those episodes, when they happened and what exactly happened. And this electronic evidence matches her testimony. And he was incriminated,” says Oleg Ivanov. The 44-year-old priest was detained by law enforcement officers and taken into custody without bail. “After that, when it’s over, the case will be brought to court. And the trial will begin: we will listen to the offender, if he wants to talk, we will examine all investigative actions. Unfortunately, we will also have to examine audio, video, and photos in the court process. It is clear that the trial will be closed,” says Oleg Ivanov.
