A school in the Lviv region got into a scandal because of a portrait of the Tsarina of Moscow at an exhibition – News

An exhibition was opened at the school in the village of Murovane, in the Sambir district of the Lviv region, part of which is dedicated to the Polish Mnishek family. One of the posters depicted Maryna Mnishek and noted that she was the Tsarina of Moscow.

Anton Petrivskyi, a serviceman of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, announced this on his Facebook page.

The event outraged users of the social network, who pointed out the inappropriateness of honoring such a personality.

The opening of the memorial exhibition at the Murovan Gymnasium was solemn.

“On the poster of the exhibition, they were not even ashamed to proudly write about it – that she (Marina Mnishek – ed.) was the Tsarina of Moscow!

Moreover, at the opening of the exhibition, they lit a candle and prayed for this Moscow tsarina.” – said Anton Petrivskyi.

According to the military, the school space should be dedicated to the natives of these lands who fought for independent Ukraine.

“But no! We honor the Poles who were Moscow tsars.

Ukrainian children still do not understand what the Ukrainian state is for them and who fought for it in different periods of our history. We must learn to honor our Ukrainian national elite.” – emphasized Petrivskyi.

What local educators say

Roman Boyko, Senior Inspector of the Department of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Khyriv City Council, commented to “UP. Life” that the word “exhibition” is not correct in this case.

“This is a local history museum. In addition to posters, there are household items, clothes and other items of historical significance.” he remarked.

He calls Maryna Mnishek herself “primarily” a native of Murovany.

“To say that she is the Tsarina of Moscow, when she was on the throne for only nine days – I don’t even know… It can be perceived, and not completely. The march of her husband False Dmitry I to Moscow generally happened together with the Cossacks.” – said Boyko.

The director of the Murovan Gymnasium, Vera Turii, assured “UP. Life” that the exhibition dedicated to the Mnishek family is only part of the story.

“At the opening, we didn’t say a single word about Maryna Mnishek. In one room, we collected the entire history of the village, school principals, the history of two local boys who were shot by the NKVD, etc.

We dreamed of its creation for 15 years, because it is a historical place. Tourists always came to see the ruins of the Mnishekiv castle, the linden alley and the church. Now there is a light in which we can tell more about the village and its history.” – remarked the educator.

Vera Turii also denied that they prayed for the Mnisheks at the opening.

“The candle was lit for consecration of the premises and blessing from God. We invited two priests for this. It happened in front of the Mother of God, not in front of the queen. If we prayed for the Mnishek family, we would have held a memorial service.” – says the director.

Marina Mnishek herself, in her opinion, is not a negative historical figure or an enemy of our country.

“Marina Mnishek was not against Ukraine. Muscovites were inhuman, and remained so. She wanted to civilize them – she taught them how to use a fork, and they looked at her and thought she was some kind of devil.

This is history and it must be learned. How can history be rewritten? We must unite. We have a big problem, and this is happening – Ukrainians are drowning their own history.” – she thinks.

According to Vira Turii, the Poles are important for the history of the Murovane village. They once made up a significant part of its population, and then they were evicted under an agreement between the Polish and Soviet communist authorities.

“Previously, both Ukrainians and Poles lived here – 50 to 50. During the Vistula operation, a lot of Poles were evicted. Now they live near Wroclaw, in the village of Pasikurowice. We have been cooperating with one of the local schools for 9 years. They come to us on St. Nicholas and we exchange gifts”, – said the head of the gymnasium.

Despite the opinions and statements about Maryna Mnishek expressed above, the poster was still removed from the exhibition. This was reported to “UP. Life” by the spokeswoman of the SBU in the Lviv region, Roksolana Yavorska.

“Our operatives were immediately informed about that incident. As of today, there is no portrait of the Tsarina of Moscow at the exhibition. The exhibition itself remains, because it is not related to the aggressor country.” – she noted.

At the same time, the director of the gymnasium, Vera Turii, said that she intends to return the poster with Maryna Mnishek after the investigation of this case, which will begin next week.

Who was Marina Mnishek?

The Mnishek family owned the surrounding Ukrainian lands. In the village of Murovane (then Lyashki Murovani) they had an ancestral castle, where Marina Mnishek was born.

As the historian Andrii Blanutsa told in a commentary for “UP. Life”, her father, Jerzy Mnishek, was the cook (chief court cook) of the Polish king Sigismund II Augustus and his confidant.

“In 1604, in Jerzy Mnishek’s possessions, False Dmitriy I was a passer-by, with whom he concluded an agreement on military assistance in the acquisition of the Moscow throne. False Dmitriy undertook to marry Marina and pay his father-in-law 1 million zlotys.” he remarked.

In the same year, with the help of the Poles and even the Cossacks, Lyzhedmitry defeated the Muscovite troops near Novgorod-Siverskyi and captured Moscow.

He and Marina married in absentia on November 22, 1605 in Krakow. Yezhi and his daughter arrived in Moscow only in May 1606. Already on May 18, an in-person marriage ceremony was held between Lzhedmitry I and Marina Mnishek. She was crowned on the same day.

Shortly after that, on May 27, Marina’s husband was killed by conspirators. She and her father were taken hostage and sent to Yaroslavl.

“After the liberation in 1608, Jerzy supported False Dmitry II. Marina also joined them, “recognizing” False Dmitry II as the previous husband. Jerzy Mniszek in the Diets of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1609 and 1611 opposed the intervention of Sigismund III in Muscovy in order to preserve the throne for Marina “, – said the historian.

False Dmitry II was also killed. Later, after that, Marina gave birth to a son from her husband. In 1614, it was captured by the troops of the Moscow Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich. Maryna Mnishek died in prison.

“Therefore, she can only be considered the Moscow Tsar of the illegitimate Tsar False Dmitry. Marina did not have a legal title.” – summed up Andriy Blanutsa.

It will be recalled that UNESCO reported that the Russians caused damage to Ukrainian culture in the amount of 3.5 billion dollars.
