Scientists explained the reason for the bright flash in the Kyiv region on the evening of April 19. It was probably caused by the fall of a meteorite from the Lyrid stream, the State Space Agency of Ukraine reports. The phenomenon was seen in the Kyiv region, as well as in the nearby regions of Belarus. “It can be estimated that the explosion occurred at an altitude of several tens of kilometers above the surface of the earth,” says the expert. Such an explosion could damage the windows in houses, notes Andriy Kolesnyk. However, since there were no reports of broken windows, most likely this steroid was less than 10 m in diameter, the scientist adds. According to the expert, it can be estimated by the explosion that was heard in the area of 3-5 m. spacious,” the scientist added.
