A photographer of the night sky and a photo ambassador of the European Southern Observatory from Portugal captured the flashes on the Sun frame by frame. Miguel Claro captured the full disk of the Sun in slow motion for the first time on July 9, 2023, according to Space. The photographer showed many interesting features of the red-hot star in motion, including protuberances (bright eruptions at the edges) and small solar flares. Miguel photographed the Sun for 3 hours. The video was captured from Dark Sky Alqueva in Portugal using the Player One Saturn-M SQR camera and the Lunt LS100 telescope, with a total of 3 terabytes of data.
