Zhytomyr Oblast “Zhytomyr Maldives” Location Druzhbiv quarry of non-metallic minerals “Quartz” in the Korosten district or “Zhytomyr Maldives” as it is popularly known is one of the most popular vacation spots in Ukraine. This area really looks like an exotic resort 200 kilometers from Kyiv. Thanks to the clay that covered the bottom of the lake, the water in it is crystal clear, and the shore has snow-white sand. Friendly Quarry/@larysamatsiuk1789 You can get to the quarry only by car. It is recommended to come here early in the morning, because there are many people who want to rest here. You can stay overnight in tents, because there are no hotels or recreation complexes nearby. There are quite a lot of such flooded quarries that are used for recreation in Ukraine, says traveler Andriy Tychyna. The most famous are the Blue Lakes of Chernihiv Oblast (they are located next to the Belarusian border, so it can be dangerous there) and the Cherepashyn quarry in Vinnytsia Oblast. “There is also the popular Korostyshiv quarry (also in Zhytomyr region), very cinematic – many episodes of various films and clips were shot there. You can walk around, take pictures, swim from a specially equipped platform,” he adds. Cherkasy Region National Dendrological Park “Sophiivka” Location The park on the outskirts of Uman is called one of the largest in Ukraine. The park was never completed according to the plan of Stanislav Pototsky, but its scale still amazes tourists. Sofiivka Park This is one of the best arboretums in Ukraine, where nature is subtly combined with art, says Andriy Tychyna. “I recommend starting a walk from the old entrance from Sadova Street to see the park as it was conceived by the park builder Ludwig Metzel, and as he presented it to Countess Sofia Potocka in 1802 as a birthday present from her husband, the Polish magnate Stanislaw Szczesny Potocki. For the first introduction to it is better to use the services of a tour guide in the park, otherwise many interesting nuances will be overlooked. The highlight will be a boat ride on the underground river Styx,” the traveler shares. The excursion season in “Sophiivka” lasts from April 10 to November 15. Tickets cost 100 hryvnias for adults and 50 hryvnias for children.
