A teacher at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy was killed in Kyiv during a rocket attack

Lyudmila Shevtsova, a professor of the ecology department of the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” died as a result of the Russian shelling of Kyiv on January 2.
As reported in the press service of NaUKMA, she would have turned 85 on February 2.
The university noted that for many years Lyudmila Shevtsova was an employee of the Institute of Hydrobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where she received the scientific degrees of candidate and doctor of biological sciences, majoring in “Hydrobiology”.
“Among the scientific achievements of Ms. Lyudmila, the development of methods for combating dreisen in irrigation systems should be noted.” – they say there.

Since 2014, the scientist has worked at the Department of Ecology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, NaUKMA, where she taught the following subjects:
- “Fundamentals of general biology” for bachelors;
- “Biodiversity” and “Ecology of water systems” for masters;
- “Development of a dissertation project” for graduate students.
The professor was also the guarantor of the master’s educational and scientific program “Ecology and environmental protection”.
Many users of social networks reacted to the news about the death of Lyudmila Shevtsova.
“Lyudmyla Vasylivna was a wonderful teacher, and she not only knew how to teach, but also raised us, environmental students, to be real scientists and defenders of nature. This is a great loss and a tragedy.” – Anna Koryakhina, a graduate of NaUKMA, wrote on Facebook.
Director Iryna Tsylyk also reacted to the event: “Another bitter loss. The endless injustice makes me want to howl.”
We will remind you that on the night of January 2, the Russians launched 99 missiles of various types over Ukraine, of which 72 were destroyed. As a result of a massive rocket attack on Kyiv and the region, three people died, in Kyiv itself – one person died and 43 were injured, of whom 37 were hospitalized.
