On November 27, Azad Safarov complained about the detention of volunteer Alina Shirshina.

“Alya helps dozens of families of servicemen and IDPs every day. Ali’s husband went to the front from the 1st day of the full-scale war and is in the hottest direction.

Her husband is the same soldier whose photo in the trenches with Timothy Snyder’s book went viral on social media. Alya tries to visit her husband at least once a month to see him for a few hours.” Safarov wrote.

On November 26, Alina was returning from Donetsk region after a meeting with a military man, but the bus was delayed for an hour due to a blizzard. At 00:10, the volunteer called a taxi in Kyiv to get home.

The policemen stopped the woman in the Podilsk district and “took her to the police station to give an explanation.”

“The investigator spoke condescendingly to Aleya, asked if her husband was serving in the rear, and said that he would issue a summons to her herself, because, according to him, “women have to fight too.”

Later, Alina Shirshina wrote in the comments that “everything is fine” with her, and the head of the press service of the National Police, Olena Berezhna, informed Safarov about the investigation.

“The head of the State Police of Kyiv has appointed an official investigation into the actions of law enforcement officers, based on the results of which appropriate disciplinary decisions will be made” Safarov was informed by the police.

Also, according to his information, the police apologized for the inappropriate behavior of the law enforcement officers and promised to erase the photographed documents of Alina Shirshina from the phone.

However, Alina reported that the police did not contact her or apologize. The volunteer added that she did not expect this.
