The comedy about the prejudices of Ukrainians against the LGBT community was filmed based on the play by Ihor Bilyts “Gay Parade”. Previously, a play of the same name based on this text was performed in the capital’s Dyky Theater.
According to the story, the Ukrainian family of the Naidyuks was intimidated by “terrible” “foreign” gays for years. Suddenly, the state program of European integration “Lessons of Tolerance” appears, which offers benefits to families, on the condition that a representative of the LGBT community is granted shelter.
One of the main characters of the film – gay Vasya – was played by a theater and film actor Akmal Gurezov.
“It was important for us to find an actor with an existing male core, as opposed to the cliché of a mannered and feminine gay man… We also relied on the prototype of a real gay man, an acquaintance of ours, who looks more masculine than many heterosexuals“, said the director and co-author of the film’s script Arkady Nepytalyuk.

Other main roles in the film were played by well-known Ukrainian actors: Olena Uzlyuk, Oleksandr Piskunov, Oleksandr Yarema, Karolina Mruga, Borys Georgievskii, Nina Naboka.
The creators of the film explained that thanks to satire and mockery of trigger topics, they aim to help Ukrainians to respond more calmly to incomprehensible things, reach an understanding, and reevaluate values.
