Police officers evacuated three orphaned children from the village of New York in Donetsk region, who were hiding in a dilapidated house from daily shelling. 11-year-old Yana, 9-year-old Denys and 7-year-old Anya remained in the house without their parents. Mother died of an illness a few days ago, father died a few years ago. And their home was destroyed by a Russian projectile, the National Police say. “Mom, dad, grandmother, grandfather – all our relatives are now in heaven,” Anya says. The sisters and brother had to simultaneously experience the loss of their closest relatives and massive shelling by Russian troops. Pavlo added that a few days ago, law enforcement officers also came under fire in that area during the evacuation. Denys explained that he and his sisters did not go down to the basement, because they could end up under the rubble. As Anya and Denis said, at first they “flew” into the garden, where a deep ravine remained. Later, enemy shelling destroyed part of the building. Photo: National Police. At first, the law enforcement officers took the children for a medical examination, but now they are in the Kyiv region, in the family of a cousin. It will be recalled that Kyiv was once again subjected to a missile attack by the Russians. Immediately after the alarm was announced, the first explosions rang out. The photographer recorded on video how children in the center of the capital are heading to the shelter after the start of the alarm. On the footage, you can see how on the way to the shelter they are caught by the sounds of explosions, and the children start running faster in panic.
