Almost 200 victims: in Kyiv, a man molested children and sold pornography abroad

A 35-year-old man was exposed in the capital, who met underage girls on the Internet under the guise of their peers and demanded from them candid photos. The perpetrator was selling child pornography abroad, the Kyiv National Police reported. As noted by the law enforcement officers, the offender was exposed in the spring of 2022. The cyber police discovered that an unknown man sends pornographic content to a 12-year-old girl from Kyiv and demands the same photos from her in return. It took several days to search. In a comment for “UP.Zhyttia”, the Kyiv police noted that the period during which the man committed the crimes has not yet been established. They also added that he is married, but has no children. On his computer was more than 4 TB of child pornographic content. “During further investigation, 181 episodes of his criminal activity and more than 200 girls aged 10 to 17 from both Ukraine and foreign countries who were victims of the perpetrator’s actions were identified,” noted Dmytro Fedorka, senior investigator of the Kyiv Police Department. According to him, the man found victims on social networks, pretended to be their peers, communicated with them on frank topics. As reported by the National Police, in one of the situations, the perpetrator introduced himself as a 15-year-old football player. I took the photo for social networks in the public domain. He demanded candid photos, and when the girls tried to resist, he blackmailed, threatened with murder or rape. The man also resorted to manipulation: he pretended to know everything about his victims. He even stalked some victims on the way home from school in real life. Evidence on the criminal’s computer Law enforcement officers searched for and interviewed 15 girls from different regions of Ukraine who suffered at the hands of an intruder. Some of them admitted that they tried to commit suicide, because they could not stand the psychological pressure, threats and blackmail from their husbands. However, no one was told about it. “The problem is very big, because these are latent crimes. We try to find out and react as quickly as possible, however, the identity of the perpetrator remains incognito. Until the injured party or relatives or friends notice the child’s strange behavior. Therefore, we emphasize to parents: talk to your child, watch how he spends leisure time and how one communicates in social networks”, – emphasized the spokeswoman of the National Police of Kyiv Yuliya Girdvilis. The silence of such crimes leads to consequences and an increase in the number of victims, law enforcement officers add. The perpetrator sold child pornography abroad for a long time. The police say that he received millions in profits from such activities. One of his accomplices was a citizen of the Russian Federation. The law enforcement officers collected the evidence base, the crimes of the 35-year-old man fall under several articles of the criminal code, including corruption of minors, importation, production, sale and distribution of pornographic content.
