There are 4,390 Ukrainian orphans and children deprived of parental care who were in special children’s institutions in the temporarily occupied territories and in Russia. Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk announced this on the air of a single telethon on March 28, 2023. According to Vereshchuk, Ukraine provides the International Criminal Court with all materials related to the abduction of children, including data obtained by the prosecutor’s office, intelligence, the police and the SBU. Also, sometimes the Russians themselves confirm the facts of the abduction of Ukrainian children. They have already recorded their crime. They will be responsible for it,” Vereshchuk emphasized. The official says that Ukraine is counting on the pressure of the international community on the aggressor country: “We are counting on the international community, on their pressure, on the fact that they will impose sanctions, pressure and bring to justice those who commit the crime of genocide against our children. “Enough evidence has already been collected. We hope that our efforts and the pressure of the international community will speed up the process of returning our children,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. We will remind you that the Ukrainian data collection system officially recorded the deportation of 16,221 children from Ukraine to Russia. The UN recognized cases of illegal transfer of 164 Ukrainian children by Russians. According to other data, the number of children taken out by the Russians is much higher and reaches 700,000.
