An outbreak of hepatitis A in Vinnytsia: the number of patients is growing rapidly

The number of hepatitis A patients has increased in Vinnytsia Region. Currently, 207 cases of the disease have been laboratory-confirmed. At the same time, the total number of infection reports is 247.

This was reported by the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration.

Despite the increase in cases of infection, the number of patients in hospitals is decreasing.

Currently, 120 people are in medical facilities, 7 of whom are suspected of hepatitis A. Among them are 20 children.

The condition of most patients is of medium complexity. One patient remains stably severe.

“To date, we have already vaccinated 117 doctors and 8 contact persons from 12 families where disease outbreaks were recorded.

We continue to vaccinate doctors and contact persons. I emphasize again, wash your hands with soap and disinfect them.” – remarked the deputy director of the specialized department, Tetyana Bondarenko.

We will remind, on October 24, an outbreak of hepatitis A was recorded in Vinnytsia region – 74 cases of infection were registered at that time.

The number of patients continued to grow, so students were transferred to distance learning.

On October 31, a state of emergency was declared in the Vinnytsia region due to an outbreak of infection.
