In particular, the listeners were outraged by the fact that the musician speaks on behalf of the military, and also promotes stereotypes about Ukrainians, such as the consumption of lard, vodka, etc. “How wonderful it is when a man from the cultural fronts tells what the guys at the front are thinking. The writer Tetyana Vlasova believes that it is treason to write in songs about vyshyvanka and fat, still thinking that they are a sign of Ukrainianness. At the beginning of the full-scale war, Serhii Babkin left with his family for Germany, as a father of many children. The artist stayed there until November 2022. After that, he returned to Ukraine, visited his native Kharkiv and gave a concert there. Also in August 2022, Babkin sang his famous hit “I’m a soldier” in Ukrainian.
