In Kyiv, driving courses were opened for women who found themselves in difficult life circumstances due to the war

The first category B driving courses in Ukraine were opened in Kyiv for women who found themselves in difficult life circumstances due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. 15 women are participating in the “Rights Expand Opportunities” pilot project, reported Maryna Honda, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration. The project was created for women who do not have a driver’s license, but want to get one in order to increase their economic capacity. “Because of the war, they were forced to move from their hometowns and start everything from scratch. They lost housing, jobs and permanent sources of income. They are raising children with disabilities on their own, survived the occupation, and are in a difficult financial situation,” Marina Honda said. All photos: Marina Honda. She added that 15 women are participating in the pilot project. The training also includes 5 inclusive places for women with disabilities. According to the deputy head of the KMDA, the initial stage of the selection of participants was the analysis of questionnaires, the final stage was personal interviews. The project was created with the support of the UN Population Fund in Ukraine. “From the moment the competition was announced, the organizers received about two thousand applications in three days,” added Maryna Honda. “Participants are very interested in learning and show high motivation,” added the deputy head of the KMDA. The courses consist of theoretical and practical parts. It is expected that by the end of this year, the participants will receive a category B driver’s license. We previously reported that a driving school for people with disabilities was opened in the Kyiv region. Read also: The algorithm for obtaining a driver’s license has changed in Ukraine
