Videos from Arestovych’s paid “seminars”, where sexist statements were heard, were published on the “Palaye” channel, but the blogger himself called the material of the program a “directed attack on reputation”, said that he was joking, and also announced “legal consequences” for the authors of the video.

“Workshops are quite creative classes. Plus, I have 17 years of theater work. I just portray men there, pretending to be such a man, with their common complaints about women…

Because I say, “men, the women don’t hear us yet,” and several hundred women are present there at the same time. Well, if I say that women can’t hear us, then I guess it’s humor?” – said Arestovych in a comment to the Ukrainian BBC.

What happened?

Oleksiy Arestovych is a Ukrainian blogger and freelance adviser to the Office of the President. He was dismissed from this position in January 2023 due to false statements about the terrorist attack in Dnipro.

Arestovych then suggested that the rocket that killed 45 people in the Dnipro could have fallen on the house because it was shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces.

Arestovych is also known for live broadcasts with Russian journalists and promises that the war will end in “two or three weeks”.

On September 25, bloggers Yana Brenzei and Emma Antonyuk published a video with excerpts from two of Arestovych’s paid seminars on their YouTube channel.

In the excerpts published by the bloggers, he calls women “split creatures”, talks about the desire to “strangle” them, and considers men “gods” and “idols” that should be glorified.

Arestovych allegedly accuses women of “castrating men” and thus serving the devil. At the same time, he advises men to “try to understand women”, because in their stomachs there is a “portal to another world”, from where “pre chaos”.

The publication of excerpts from paid seminars caused outrage in the network. In particular, “Voice” deputy Inna Sovsun reacted.

“I admit, I didn’t have the nerve to watch the video of this seminar. I wrote a statement to the law enforcement authorities about the commission of a criminal offense by Oleksiy Arestovych under Article 300 of the Criminal Code: distribution of video productions that promote the cult of violence and cruelty.”– says Sovsun’s post on Facebook.

Sovsun added that Arestovych’s statements reminded her of the crimes committed by Pocians in the occupied territories.

“If some participant of this “seminar” later tries to suffocate a woman – then those who constantly invited Arestovych to the telethon should know that this is also their responsibility. It’s time to end this “circus”, it’s not funny for a long time.” – says the deputy.

Oleksiy Arestovych Arestovych himself claims that the “scandalous” passages were cut out and taken out of context.
