Japan’s SLIM probe on its way to the moon took a photo of the Earth from orbit.
In this way, the “lunar sniper” tested the quality of the camera that will help him land on the moon, reports Space.com.
In the picture, which one published Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency September 21, the northern hemisphere of the planet plunged into darkness.
The monochrome image was taken at a distance of about 100,000 km from Earth.

It is noted that before the picture, the spacecraft moved to a new orbit, which rlocated “higher” or further from the Earth.
It is known that the SLIM space probe was launched on the H-2A rocket, it went into orbit on September 6.
The date of his landing on the moon is currently unknown. According to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, it will take the spacecraft about four months to reach the moon.
The probe has already passed the first critical phase in Earth orbit and completed a series of system tests, the agency added.
