As a result of Russian missile attacks on the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv on January 2, a cultural monument of national importance – the House of State Industry – was damaged.

This is reported by Suspilne Kharkiv, referring to the director of Derzhprom Mykola Chehunov.
As Chehunov said, windows and stained-glass windows were knocked out in the building, but the walls were not damaged. Damages have not yet been calculated. The staff of the building were also not injured.

“Now we sew everything to OSB. There are no major damages inside. Now I can’t say how many windows and stained glass windows have been knocked out. Workers have been closing the windows since morning, materials were brought to us, several organizations organized the work so that we had time to sew everything today“, said the director of Derzhprom.
Architect Viktor Dvornikov added that the damage affected almost the entire northwestern part of the building.

“There are deformed and broken windows. The volume that is there is very large-scale work. Today’s damage affects the condition of the building, because a violation of the temperature regime can lead to damage to the interior decoration, which is quite a serious problem. There are a large number of wooden structures inside Derzhprom, which will be very harmful“, Viktor Dvornikov said.
He emphasized that Derzhprom is a model of avant-garde architecture and one of the landmarks of Kharkiv architecture.
Cultural heritage of Derzhprom
Earlier, on September 7, 2022, UNESCO added 20 objects of cultural heritage of Ukraine to the International List of Cultural Values under enhanced protection. Among them, in particular, was the Kharkiv building of Derzhprom.

House of State Industryor Derzhprom – an architectural monument in the constructivist style, created during its inception. This is the largest building of this style, as well as the first Soviet 13-story skyscraper, built during 1925-1928.
Derzhprom is located on the central square of Kharkiv – Freedom Square.
In January 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers included Derzhprom in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.
