Astronomers have discovered the coolest brown dwarf WISE J0623: too small to be a normal star and too big to be considered a planet.
This is reported by ScienceAlert with reference to an article in the Astrophysical Journal Letters.
The brown dwarf resembles Jupiter in size and has a much stronger magnetic field than that of the Sun. Its temperature reaches about 420°C.

There are more than 100 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy, home to Earth, but astronomers have been able to detect ultra-powerful radio waves from fewer than a thousand of them, astronomers say.
Scientists add that this is due to the fact that radio waves and optical light are generated by different physical processes.
“Unlike thermal radiation coming from the star’s hot outer layer, radio radiation is the result of particles called electrons that accelerate and interact with the magnetized gas around the star.”scientists explain.
They added that the radio emission could tell us about the stars’ atmospheres and magnetic fields, as well as the potential for survival on any planet orbiting them.
