Ukrainian scientists recorded “pearl clouds” and a pink “UFO” over the Antarctic research station “Akademik Vernadskyi”. The National Antarctic Science Center reported on the unique natural phenomenon. “Do you know what a polar meteorologist’s dream is? It is to observe in one day several phenomena that are very rare or completely absent in our regions,” the polar explorers said. According to them, in the morning, lentil-like clouds appeared in the sky. They were oval in shape, elongated horizontally and with even, well-defined edges. They seem to “hang” at one point. “So while they were hanging over Vernadskyi, the sun went down over the horizon, “illuminating” the sky in a pink color,” the polar explorers added. Scientists said that they are very thin, so they are practically invisible against the background of diffused light. He is precisely the reason that the clouds become multi-colored. “Both lentil-shaped and nacreous clouds can be seen infrequently even in Antarctica. This requires specific weather conditions, which occur mostly in winter,” the polar explorers emphasized.
