In Odesa region, thousands of bee-eating birds were spotted in the national natural park “Tuzlov estuaries”. This was reported by a researcher of the park, biologist Ivan Rusev. The scientist said that he first saw the birds over the steppe areas of the park on April 23. Since then, thousands of birds of this species visit “Tuzlovsk estuaries” every day, because there is something for them to feed on the territory of the park, notes the biologist. You can especially hear how they specifically “sing”, calling to each other,” said Ivan Rusev. He added that bee-eaters devote the daylight hours to “plumage care, diligently greasing and smoothing each feather with their beak.” Photo: National Nature Park “Tuzlov Estuary” Also, birds often bathe in sand or water to get rid of parasites, and during rain they “take a shower” by spreading their tail and wings. Bee-eaters spend the night usually on trees or in bushes. In the commentary “Ukrainian Pravda. Life” Ivan Rusev reported that “beekeepers kill birds because they believe that they destroy many bees.” According to him, you can most often see birds in the central and southern parts of Ukraine in April-May, as well as at the beginning of autumn. “In the summer, it settles on slopes, cliffs of lakes, estuaries and there reproduces in colonial settlements in burrows,” says Ivan Rusev. National Natural Park “Tuzlovsky lymany” is a nature conservation area in Ukraine on the territory of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky district of Odesa region. We previously reported that the unique small inland lakes named after Academician Juvenal Zaytsev have practically dried up in the National Natural Park “Tuzlovsky lymany” in the Odesa region.
