Autumn migration of birds, including herons, waders, ducks and martins, in the national natural park “Tuzlivski lymani”.

Some of the birds fly to Ukraine from the tundra, the website of the national park reports.

Nowadays, “winter” birds fly to the national park to replace “autumn” birds. In particular, splashers come from the arctic desert zone.

They will stay in Ukraine until the beginning of spring.

On the territory of the national park there are many birds that live here since the beginning of spring. White herons are among them.

All day, white herons are busy looking for food

According to park employees, during the day they are busy looking for food – they hunt for fish in the water, and look for insects, mouse-like rodents, lizards and frogs near the reeds and on land.

“We hope that in the spring the birds will return to Ukraine, which won the war with Russia,” the park added

The ornithologists of the national park are also observing pink flamingos with chicks, which were ringed this year, as well as ducks and martins.

“Soon it will be cold, and despite this, some birds may stay here for the winter, and if it is very cold and the estuaries are covered with ice, they will fly to the South”– noted the researcher of the park, biologist Ivan Rusev.

Earlier, we reported that a male of a rare bird with rings on its legs was recorded in the “Tuzliv estuaries”.
